Hayfield enjoys strong first half of 2022

Hayfield, the fast-growing premium housebuilder, has announced that it is on track to secure its full-year turnover target of £150million as it capitalises on strong demand for greener, larger family homes.

The company had sold 90% of its 350-home target for 2022 by the end of June. The housebuilder’s sales data also suggests that demand is continuing to be driven by buyers in London seeking larger family properties outside the M25 and people also prioritising eco-friendly homes.

All new Hayfield homes are zero carbon ready and exceed the government’s Future Homes Standard, which will be mandatory from 2025, and include innovative solutions installed as standard, such as air-source heat pumps, increased insulation, water efficiency measures and electric vehicle charge points.

Hayfield now has just 40 plots remaining in the current calendar. Looking ahead, it has 330 plots secured for 2023 and is gearing up to construct 500 homes annually, supported by a portfolio of sites to enable visible production into the future.

Despite industry challenges, Hayfield is set to deliver its homes target due to its significant investment earlier this year in modern methods of construction (MMC). The introduction of MMC is accelerating Hayfield’s build timeframes, delivering greater programme and cost certainty while alleviating the risks of material and labour shortages.

In identifying where supply could be further increased, Hayfield has called for reforms so councils can more quickly approve planning applications in line with local plans, helping to tackle Britain’s housing crisis, which is particularly acute in the South East of England where Hayfield builds most its homes.

Andy Morris, managing director of Hayfield, said: “We have always been bold in our decision-making, such as our moves to buy strategic plots of land early to boost our pipeline and our desire to meet the government’s Future Homes Standard early. We feel that the ongoing strong demand for our homes and feedback from our customers vindicates these decisions.

“Incorporating MMC into our build model early in the industry’s supply chain crisis has been a transformative decision. We’ve ensured that we can remain on track and provide our customers with the sustainability, high quality and certainty they expect from us. Despite the many challenges facing housebuilders, we’re confident that 2022 will continue to be a successful year.”
