The housebuilder had been working on the site for eight years and has placed the blame on the Conservative government for the decision to cancel the plans. It is understood that Weston Homes will lose £7.5million by walking away. The 4.6-hectare Anglia Square scheme was expected to deliver up to 1,100 homes, alongside 8,000 sq m of retail, office and leisure space, as well as a community hall.
