Chase New Homes has started work on a 168-home scheme in Saffron Walden that will deliver 67 affordable homes for the area.
The affordable homes at Saffron Park will be delivered in partnership with B3 Living and will include 38 apartments and 29 houses, with 70% allocated for affordable rent and the remaining 30% available through shared equity, which will help buyers get onto the property ladder through a part-buy, part-rent model.
The homes will be built in a highly sought-after location for both renters and buyers, with the Sunday Times naming Saffron Walden the Best Place to Live in the UK in 2025.
With construction now underway at Saffron Park, the new homes will be available from as early as 2027.
Saffron Park has been designed to complement its setting within the historic Essex market town, with the landscape-led development offering a mix of homes to suit a wide range of lifestyles, public open spaces, green buffers, attenuation ponds and dedicated nesting areas for protected bird species to support local biodiversity.
Paul Bennett, sales and marketing director at Chase New Homes, commented: “We are incredibly proud of the progress being made at Saffron Park. This development represents so much more than new homes – it is an opportunity to deliver something genuinely inclusive for Saffron Walden: high-quality private homes alongside a meaningful affordable housing offer, provided by a first-class partner in B3 Living. With over half of our foundations now complete and above-groundwork beginning imminently, we look forward to welcoming our first residents in 2027.”
