Vistry and Citizen get go-ahead for 600 new homes in Coventry’s Eastern Green

Vistry Group and its joint venture partner, Citizen, have secured planning permission for 608 new homes across phases four and five of the major Eastern Green scheme in Coventry.

Eastern Green is rapidly transforming into a new community, with outline consent for 2,400 homes and a host of amenities. The partnership has already seen 247 homes built as part of phase one, while the next phases will see 304 homes available for open market sale through Vistry’s brands and 152 homes will be delivered for Citizen under the site’s Section 106 agreement.

The vision for the Eastern Green urban extension includes more than housing, and will also deliver 15 hectares of new employment space, 10,000 square metres of retail, a primary school, a new local centre, a convenience store and a range of ecological enhancements, with the aim of creating a thriving, sustainable area for Coventry.

Andy Peters, managing director for Vistry South West Midlands, said: “Continuing our joint venture with Citizen at Eastern Green is a fantastic example of our long-term partnership strategy in action. Together, we’re delivering more than 800 new homes across three phases, half of which are affordable, showcasing the strengths of Vistry Group and our commitment to building communities that last.”

Nick Byrne, executive director of development at Citizen, said: “We’re pleased to be continuing our joint venture with Vistry and provide more affordable and market sale homes for people living in the West Midlands.”

“At Citizen, we have an ambitious development programme to build homes to meet the needs of our region and we also work with our partners, including Vistry, to make a positive difference to our customers and communities.”

“We’re looking forward to seeing work at Eastern Green in Coventry continue building on our existing presence in the area.”
