Housing association, Thrive Homes, has announced a strategic partnership with MySafeHome, a specialist mortgage provider that supports disabled individuals in accessing homeownership.
Thrive Homes, which has close to 6,000 homes across Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Oxfordshire, will welcome MySafeHome to its mortgage panel immediately, with the aim of enhancing accessibility for disabled homeowners.
MySafeHome has been a pioneering force in the mortgage market for 27 years, having facilitated over 1,600 mortgages nationwide. The organisation enables those excluded from paid employment to get onto the property ladder through their unique shared ownership model, recognising benefits as earnings.
Thrive Homes says that the new partnership with MySafeHome underscores both organisations’ shared missions of providing quality, affordable homes where people thrive. The partnership will increase housing availability and affordability for disabled people in one of the most expensive areas to live in the UK.
David Abbey, managing director at MySafeHome, said: “Having a disability should not prevent anyone from owning a home and benefiting from the stability and comfort this brings. We are delighted to be partnering with Thrive Homes to help more disabled individuals access new homes through shared ownership.”
Alix Green, executive director of investment & growth at Thrive Homes, said: “Accessibility is a key principle in all our developments. Every project we undertake includes a minimum percentage of fully accessible homes, designed to meet diverse needs. This collaboration with MySafeHome will mean we can prioritise these homes for those who benefit most from them.”
Thrive Homes welcomed the first buyer with MySafeHome to its Parkside development in Watford just before Christmas. The new community provides one, two and three-bedroom apartments for Shared Ownership, with the final phase now released.
