We take our weekly look at some of the appointments and promotions across the housebuilding industry and its supply chain.
David Matthews, Barratt Developments
Barratt Developments, which operates under the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, has appointed David Matthews as land director in the South West. From graduating from Southampton Solent University with a Business degree, he has acquired 18 years of industry experience across the country.
Tom Nicholson, Crest Nicholson
As we reported last week Tom Nicholson has moved from Galliford Try to become chief operating officer of Crest Nicholson, and is expected to start his new role from the end of May. He has extensive experience in the industry with the likes of Linden Homes, Trafalgar House, Berkeley and Try Homes.
Ellen Stewart, William H Brown
Ellen Stewart has moved from branch manager for the company’s Spalding office to join William H Brown’s New Homes division as field sales manager for the East Midlands. She has worked in estate agency for 10 years and building strong relationships with local and national developers in Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Staffordshire.
Steven Gregory, Engie
Steven Gregory has been named as head of new build for Engie to look after all new build construction projects in the north of England. He joins them after nine years at Bouygues. He said: “I am looking forward to the challenge of further developing the structures and principles that will help us continue to deliver for our clients and grow as a team and business.”
Two appointments, Pave Aways
Building contractor Pave Aways has appointed Daniel Higginson and Gordon McCartin as contracts managers. Higginson heads up the Wrexham office and previously worked for Carillion. McCartin, who has experience from roles at Balfour Beatty, Willmott Dixon and BAM, will be based at the firm’s HQ near Oswestry.
Two appointments, Crookes Walker
Principal Lee Carey and engineer Ben Davies are the latest recruits for building services engineers Crookes Walker, joining from Capita and Patrick Parsons respectively. This brings the company’s recruits in 2019 to four, making a team of ten now. Office director, Chris Skinner, said: “It really is exciting times for us in the Liverpool office.”
Gillian Charlesworth, Building Research Establishment
The Building Research Establishment (BRE) has a new chief executive. Gillian Charlesworth has made the move from director of regulatory and corporate affairs for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and is taking over from Peter Bonfield in responsibility for BRE’s strategy and performance, working with BRE trustees and the group board.
Andrew Southern, Project Etopia
Andrew Southern has joined modular smart home developer Project Etopia as chief real estate officer. He has over 20 years of real estate experience, including founding Soho-based residential developer Southern Grove and roles at Hadley Property Group, Hadley Mace, which he co-founded in 2009, and Catesby Property Group.
Two appointments, Lichfields
Planning consultancy Lichfields has two new members of its Reading-based Thames Valley team. Senior planner Sarah Watts joined the company in 2013 after gaining an MSc in development planning. Planner Emily Rickard joins from Persimmon Homes, having graduated from Oxford Brookes University with an MPlan in city and regional planning.
Paul Clarkson, Triton Construction
Triton Construction has appointed Paul Clarkson as managing director, taking over from Michael Parkinson, who becomes chairman. The business operates in Yorkshire and the North West and employs over 80 people at Liversedge and Warrington. Parkinson said: “I could not think of anyone better to lead the business.”
