Nottinghamshire MP Anna Soubry has visited an East Midlands new homes development to speak to a regional housebuilder about how it is meeting the skills shortage challenges for the industry, and to meet the company’s young trade apprentices. The MP for Broxtowe visited Hanson’s View, a Fairgrove Homes development on the long-neglected site of the old Kimberley Brewery, where the conversion of some period properties into residential use is being complemented by new build homes. Ten full-time roles and 250 jobs for local construction workers have been created by a civil engineering firm on Teesside with the winning of a £2.5m contract at the prestigious Wynyard Park development in County Durham. The development is part of a wider mixed-use project on the edge of Wolviston that which combines a new village, business park and the prestigious housing site, where self-build homes are available next to projects by established housebuilding companies Avant Homes, David Wilson Homes, Story Homes and Taylor Wimpey.
