Wates Developments has announced the completion of a land sale to Bellway Homes which could pave the way for up to 147 new homes in Chesterton, Oxfordshire.
The site will make a significant contribution towards meeting local housing need in the area, with outline planning permission from Cherwell District Council for up to 147 sustainable new homes, 52 of which will be affordable.
Alongside the new homes, plans for the 36-acre site include new open green space, children’s play areas, sports pitches and allotments. The site will also have easy access to local services and facilities.
Following the submission of a planning application in January 2023, the land was subsequently identified in Cherwell Council’s Emerging Local Plan as a sustainable location for residential development. Wates Developments shaped its proposals in line with emerging Local Plan policy and consulted extensively with the council, key stakeholders including the Parish Council and Chesterton football club and the general public to seek their views and evolve the plans to reflect local needs.
