Wates Manor Oak has secured a resolution to grant planning permission for 330 new homes on land off Salph End in Bedford, Bedfordshire.
The plans propose that 30% of the site, up to 99 dwellings, will be delivered as affordable homes, helping to meet the significant local need for more housing.
The development will include a mix of family houses, including one, two, three and four bedroom homes, catering for first-time buyers up to those looking for larger family homes. Up to 20% of the homes on the site will be bungalows.
The scheme has been shaped by a comprehensive programme of ecological surveys and environmental assessments designed to protect and enhance the local natural environment, which Wates Manor Oak says demonstrates its commitment to sustainable development and creating thriving communities. The plans also include new public open space, footpath improvements and new vehicle access points.
Will Main, Founder and Managing Director of Wates Manor Oak, said: “Driven by our purpose of reimagining places for people to thrive, the proposals in Bedfordshire are well positioned to bring together new, affordable homes alongside the creation of a sustainable community.”
“We now look forward to engaging with relevant local stakeholders to bring the site to life and help to provide much-needed housing.”
Earlier this year, Wates Land & Development division, part of the Wates Group, announced the acquisition of Midlands-based land promoter, Manor Oak Homes. The team now goes by Wates Manor Oak, led by Will Main.
