Taylor Wimpey completes land sale as 2,500-home North East Cardiff development progresses

Taylor Wimpey South Wales has completed the sale of land at its North East Cardiff development, marking a further step forward in the delivery of the scheme.

The land, comprising approximately 18.73 acres with capacity for around 200 homes (subject to reserved matters approval), has been sold to Sylfaen Homes, a subsidiary of Valleys to Coast Housing Association.

Taylor Wimpey says it will collaborate closely with Sylfaen Homes to bring forward this phase, supporting the delivery of new homes alongside the infrastructure required for the wider development.

Activity on-site is continuing, including the construction of the main access road and essential infrastructure that will support both this phase and future stages of the scheme.

Liz Reynolds, managing director at Taylor Wimpey South Wales, said: “We are pleased to be working with Sylfaen Homes to bring forward this phase of North East Cardiff.”

“This is one of a number of phases across the site and forms part of the wider delivery of the development.”

The North East Cardiff scheme is expected to deliver up to 2,500 homes over time. Land has been acquired for the initial phase of the scheme, which will accommodate up to 1,370, with plans to acquire additional areas of land for a further 1,130 homes.

The wider scheme includes plans for community and leisure facilities, as well as green open spaces, including parks, gardens, play areas, outdoor sports pitches, allotments and community orchards. A new district centre will be created, providing shops, food and drink outlets and health and community facilities for residents, as well as new primary and secondary schools.
