Stockport Council and Stockport Mayoral Development Corporation are seeking feedback on plans for their Town Centre East regeneration framework.
The masterplan includes thousands of new homes, a new school and a replacement for Stepping Hill Hospital across 280 acres in the east of the town centre.
The council says that the plans, drafted by CBRE, will provide homes “to suit all lifestyles and budgets”.
The Town Centre East regeneration forms part of a wider £1billion transformation programme for the town, and stretches eastwards from Wellington Road North to St Mary’s Way and northwards from Hempshaw Lane up to the M60.
The regenerations will be split into three main neighbourhoods, comprising Goyt Riverside, Higher Hillgate and the Historic and Civic Heart.
The Strategic Regeneration Framework for the Town Centre East scheme will look to build on the successful Town Centre West project which has taken place over the last five years.
This 120-acre regeneration has included the Capital&Centric’s Wier Mill, the upgraded Stockport Interchange, the 1,200-home Stockport 8 scheme by ECF and the 170,000 sq ft Stockport Exchange office development.

The consultation period will run until 26 June.
