We take our weekly look at some of the appointments and promotions across the housebuilding industry and its supply chain.
James Caswell, Kooky
James Caswell has become in-house general counsel to Kooky, the new private rented sector brand from Delph Property Group. He is a UK-accredited solicitor specialising in real estate and he will focus on acquiring consented residential developments in regional city centre locations or within a one-hour commute of London.
Suzanne Harriss, Stonebond Properties
Stonebond Properties has appointed Suzanne Harriss as sales and marketing manager. Harriss will be responsible for implementing the sales and marketing strategy, as well as pricing schemes and managing budgets for each new development. With over 20 years’ experience, Harriss has worked for companies including Countryside and Barratt Homes.
John Hardy, Jones Homes
Jones Homes has promoted John Hardy to a group role, overseeing land acquisition in the three northern regional offices and tasked with formulating and implementing land strategy across Jones Homes’ North West, Lancashire and Yorkshire divisions. Hardy joined the company in 2006 as a land buyer in the North West.
Alison Cox, Sir Robert McAlpine
Alison Cox has been promoted by Sir Robert McAlpine from project director at Battersea Power Station Phase 3A, to its executive board as executive director of engineering and technical services, succeeding Boyd McFee. With 25 years’ experience in the industry, she is a chartered civil engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
Tom McWilliams, Property Alliance Group
Tom McWilliams has joined Property Alliance Group to focus on expanding the company’s £200m portfolio across the North West in sectors including industrial, offices, leisure, and residential. He was at JLL for 11 years before moving to Catalyst Capital in July 2018 to help establish is presence in and around Manchester.
Gregor Cunningham, McGill
Gregor Cunningham has been named head of facilities management by Dundee building services company McGill. He joins with over 15 years’ experience in facilities management, with time spent at some of the UK’s most established building services companies, including Mitie, Servest and as facilities management projects operations manager for Arthur McKay.
Daren Harris, Fulcrum Utility Services
Fulcrum Utility Services has appointed Daren Harris as chief financial officer. He brings on board significant experience from the specialist contracting sector including the role of group finance director at concrete specialist Byrne Group. Prior to that, he was group finance director of building services contractor NG Bailey.
Nick Towe, Atkins
Former Morgan Sindall development boss Nick Towe has been appointed as commercial director by MetroHome, the development arm of Atkins. He had played a key role in forming the Morgan Sindall HB Villages joint venture, and in all brings with him 30 years’ experience in the development industry, including land director and managing director roles.
William Yates, Barratt Homes
William Yates joined Barratt Homes in 2016 as a carpentry apprentice and has now taken on the role of trainee assistant site manager at Brooklands in Milton Keynes. He said: “The work is a massive step up from being a carpenter, I am now not just relying on myself to carry out tasks but also the trades that I organise as well to carry out the works.”
Ian Blanchford, Helmores
Crediton-based estate agency Helmores has announced the appointment of Ian Blanchford to the role of associate partner. He began working in property in 1998 as junior negotiator for an agency in Exeter, then progressing to sales manager and joining Helmores in 2010 as a negotiator, then sales manager and most recently as a valuer and marketing specialist.
Andrew Cullum, Polypipe
Andrew Cullum has moved across from Polypipe Civils to take over from Simon Howard as divisional managing director of the Polypipe Building Services team. A civil engineer, he has been with Polypipe since 2000 and will now oversee a management team of seven, responsible for the manufacturing operation at Polypipe Building Services site in Kent.
John Pugh, Loveitts
John Pugh has been made managing director of estate agents Loveitts. He is a chartered surveyor who has been with the firm for 20 years. He said: “Whilst we value tradition, we are forward-thinking and adaptable to market trends. Nowhere is this more evident than in the big push towards new homes – a thriving market in which Loveitts is already making its mark.”
Jon Penrose, Nexus Planning
Castlefield-based Nexus Planning has appointed Jon Penrose as a senior planner. He previously worked for Countryside in Warrington, working on residential schemes across the North West and has also spent four years as a planner with Gladman Developments. Peter Tooher, head of the Nexus Manchester office, said: “It’s great to have Jon as part of the team.”
Four appointments, Carter Jonas
There are four group partner promotions at property consultancy Carter Jonas. Nick Marshall joined in 2017 and works in Infrastructure & Energy; Jess McSweeney works on residential and mixed-use schemes with Planning & Development; and Christopher Rhodes and Chris Turner are both members of the Rural team.
Rich Thomas, Cushman & Wakefield
Rich Thomas has left his role at BNP Paribas Real Estate to become partner of the Cushman & Wakefield residential team, where services include new homes, land, investment and PRS. He will focus on institutions and corporate clients, working with other Cushman & Wakefield teams on advice and delivery of effective mixed-use assets and developments.
