Honey aims to deliver 539 homes across three sites in Barnsley

Honey is aiming to deliver a combined total of 539 new build homes in Barnsley across three proposed developments.

The Sheffield-based housebuilder has submitted plans and exchanged contracts on sites in Royston, Darton and Hemingfield to deliver three developments with a combined gross development value of £161million.

In Royston, Honey aims to deliver a £73million, 247-home development on a 21.6-acre site off Lee Lane. The proposed development, which would be called Willow, will have a mix of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes.

Located on a 16.8-acre site off Hemingfield Road, the development in Hemingfield will be called Juniper and deliver 173 new homes with a GDV of £53million. Subject to detailed planning, Juniper will comprise a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes, featuring 17 of Honey’s different house types.

On a 10.2-acre site off Bloomhouse Lane in Darton, Honey intends to deliver a £35million, 119-home development. Called Bloom, the proposed development will comprise a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes across 16 of Honey’s house types.

Honey says its house types have all been specifically designed to combine “style, substance and sustainability” for the benefit of buyers.

Since its launch in October 2022, Honey has secured 32 immediate sites throughout the Midlands and Yorkshire that will deliver 4,842 homes with a combined GDV of £1.4billion.

The housebuilder is backed by private equity firm Alchemy Partners and its Alchemy Special Opportunities Fund IV, which has £937million of fully committed capital.

Honey chief executive officer, Mark Mitchell, commented: “Submitting plans for our proposed developments in Royston, Darton and Hemingfield highlights our ongoing commitment to delivering new homes for prospective buyers across the South Yorkshire area.”

“The developments we are currently selling from across the region are proving hugely popular, highlighting the strong demand for the high specification homes we are building.”

“We are focused on delivering a product that meets the needs of our customers and believe, at its price point, provides buyers with the best combination of style, substance and sustainability.”

“We now look forward to working with Barnsley Council as they consider our proposals for delivering new homes across these three sites.”
