With work getting underway at a development in Ashbourne, Hodgkinson Builders has announced the launch of its own home sales division.
After more than 30 years of building and contracting, the team behind Derby-based Hodgkinson Builders has set up Hodgkinson Homes, to enable them to sell brand new homes that they’ve built on the open market.
Operations director, Robert Hodgkinson, made the announcement as work commenced of construction on Rosarium Heights, a forthcoming 10-home development in Ashbourne. The building division is also involved in the construction of a new landmark apartment building on the site of the former Debenhams store in Derby’s Victoria Street.
He said: “We are passionate about housing and building dreams. This makes perfect business sense as we have all the resources, and the demand for housing is there, so why not?
“For many years, we’ve had the skill set, the labour and the enthusiasm to do this. It’s a natural progression to our core business that I’ve been keen to do for a while. This development in Ashbourne provides the ideal opportunity to launch Hodgkinson Homes.
“One of the best things about this new sales division is the opportunities it will create in terms of apprenticeships and job opportunities for trades. Each new Hodgkinson Homes development will require new bricklaying apprentices, labourers, site managers and skilled construction workers. We will always be looking for local people first, and we’re always keen to get good people on board.”
Hodgkinson Builders has vast experience in the property sales market with housing developments previously in Norfolk. Rosarium Heights is the first official project for Hodgkinson Homes in the Midlands.
New homes partner Kerri Bywater, of Bagshaws Residential in Ashbourne is working alongside Hodgkinson Homes to market the Rosarium Heights properties. “It’s fantastic news,” she said. “Ian [Hodgkinson] has long-established himself as a quality builder who is able to build in volume. I’m surprised he hasn’t gone down this route much sooner.”
