Persimmon has been granted planning consent for the first phase of a scheme that could deliver up to 2,500 new homes in Trowbridge, Wiltshire.
Approval for Persimmon Homes Wessex’s reserved matters planning application marks the next step in delivering an initial 161 high‑quality homes at Ashton Park to the south of the town.
A joint venture between Persimmon and Barratt Redrow was granted outline planning permission for the wider 2,500-home scheme last year.
Once complete, the long-term scheme will have delivered capital contributions of £25.6million from developers and a Community Infrastructure Levy contribution of £7.5million for local projects. They will also deliver a £36.5million relief road, including a new section for the A350, notably bypassing the existing West Ashton crossroads.
The JV has also committed to providing new schools, dedicated early years facilities, local centres, an ecology visitor centre and employment land to ensure benefits for the town and country.
£5.4million will also be ringfenced for the Council to provide off-site affordable housing, in addition to the 27% of on-site homes reserved for local housing association partners.
