Dandara expands Essex presence with land acquisition in Billericay

Dandara Eastern has acquired the land south of London Road in Billericay, with plans to deliver a scheme for 130 homes within a mile of Billericay High Street.

The new development, of which 50% will be affordable housing, will comprise a collection of two to five-bedroom homes set within a landscape-led design plan featuring green corridors and play areas for residents to enjoy.

Located on the western edge of Billericay, the proposals place a strong emphasis on enhancing and protecting the site’s ecological features. Plans include a dedicated wildlife area, wildflower meadows, retained and enhanced hedgerows, the planting of new trees, nature trails and new shared pedestrian and cycle routes.

Section 106 requirements will ensure that there will be a £402,200 contribution towards community and infrastructure works. These include contributions towards local healthcare provision, local bus services and bus stop improvements, as well as funding for employment and skills initiatives.

The development will also support wider connectivity improvements through an upgraded cycle and pedestrian route on the south of London Road from the site to Tye Common Road.

With planning permission expected in late 2026, the first homes are due to launch for sale in spring 2027.

Andrew Wickett, managing director at Dandara Eastern, said: “This site is Dandara Eastern’s fifth land purchase in Essex in the last 12 months, demonstrating our continued investment across the County and reinforcing our commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable developments in highly desirable locations across the region.”

“This development will help address the area’s housing need by delivering a mixture of high-quality homes, while also providing lasting benefits for the wider community. Alongside new homes, the scheme will deliver investment in local infrastructure, ensuring the development creates a positive legacy for both existing and future residents. We look forward to working closely with the local authority and community as this development comes to life.”

The Billericay development strengthens Dandara Eastern’s growing presence across Essex, joining a portfolio that includes The Orchard in Little Dunmow, Birch Park in Braintree, St Mary’s Park in Great Dunmow and Prior’s Edge in Takeley.
