Churchill Living has announced a reshuffle of its main board, including the promotion of chief financial officer Dean Marlow to the position of CFO & deputy CEO.
Marlow is a chartered accountant who has been with the business for 25 years and will continue to have overall responsibility for financial matters. He will nowwork more closely alongside chairman & CEO Spencer J McCarthy, bringing his extensive operational knowledge and experience to bear in his newly expanded role.
With Marlow’s promotion, director of financial control Lindsay Matthews will be promoted to deputy CFO. She has been at the company for over 20 years, working closely with Marlow throughout.
Alongside these changes, industry veteran Gary Day has made the decision to retire, having served on the Churchill board as group land, design & planning director for the last five years. He will remain with the business until the end of December 2025 to ensure a smooth transition.
This realignment of the management team comes at an important time for the group, as it recently became the first major UK retirement living provider to permanently remove all exit fees.
McCarthy said: “I’d like to congratulate Dean and Lindsay on their well-deserved promotions and wish them every success in these newly expanded roles. I’m very proud of the strength of our leadership team, which is reflected in our ability to promote from within, and I’m looking forward to working with them both to achieve our goals for the years ahead.
“I’d also like to thank Gary for his exceptional service to the business over the last five years. He has played an integral role during that time and whilst I’m reluctant to see him go, I wish him all the very best for a well-deserved retirement.
“Specialist housing like ours delivers huge benefits to people and communities and plays a key part in meeting the needs of our ageing population. We’re continuing to invest in new sites across the country to enable older people to live happier, healthier, more independent lives. By doing this we will continue to create new jobs, regenerate local high streets, and deliver new communities that give an economic boost to towns and cities across the country.”
Marlow said: “I’m delighted and honoured to be stepping into this new role as we look to the future, ensuring we maintain our highly focused and disciplined approach to doing business whilst working hard to meet the growing demand for better housing options for older people. I’m looking forward to working even more closely alongside Spencer as we shape the group’s continued success.”
