Barratt in Hampshire recognising LGBT+ History Month

Barratt Homes in Hampshire has been marking LGBT+ History Month 2022 and has now launched its Diversity and Inclusion programme at its Southampton HQ.

The aim is to officially recognise and celebrate differences across the whole organisation through the brand-new programme. The company’s Southampton division held its first ever ‘Diversity and Inclusion’ meeting earlier in the month which covered ways to respect the unique needs, perspectives, and potential of all its employees.

LGBT+ History Month is running throughout February 2022 – 50 years since the first Pride march in the UK in 1972 – with the aim of increasing the visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in business and the wider community, as well as their history and experiences, so the housebuilder’s programme has come at an appropriate time.

Jon Green, Barratt Homes managing director for the Southampton division, said: “Our Diversity and Inclusion programme will mean we can regularly assess the way we work, and make sure we continue to provide a workplace where all our employees can feel comfortable and be themselves. A diverse team means a stronger business – it’s better for our customers and makes us a more attractive employer.”
