A planning application for the first phase of the City Centre West redevelopment has been submitted by Wolverhampton Council and the English Cities Fund.
The ECF is a joint venture between Muse, Homes England and L&G, and, alongside Wolverhampton Council, have submitted plans for 331 homes.
The first phase of the brownfield regeneration will include three six-storey apartment blocks as well as retail spaces close to Peel Street and Market Square in the city centre.
The planning application also includes further plans for the remaining masterplan, which has been completed by architects, Howells.
This includes plans for as many as 1,070 new homes across three phases, 20,000 sq. ft. of commercial space, new green spaces and streets that prioritise pedestrians.
The council has made City Centre West a “priority location” for regeneration and the project marks the largest opportunity for regeneration in the Wolverhampton Investment Prospectus, the council’s growth strategy.
ECF said that the full development will provide part of an economic strategy that will bring more people to the city centre and elevate Wolverhampton’s wider offer.

The application will now be reviewed by the City of Wolverhampton Council with a decision expected in early 2025.
