We take our weekly look at some of the appointments and promotions across the housebuilding industry and its supply chain.

Chris Timmins, Lovell

Chris Timmins of LovellLovell has announced the appointment of Chris Timmins in the newly created post of area director for the East Midlands region. Previously, he has worked for 17 years at Lovell as commercial manager for the Midlands before moving to Bovis Homes. He’ll oversee expansion of activity across Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire.

 

David Connole, Redrow

David Connole of Redrow HomesJoining Redrow in 2010 and having been senior designer then design manager, David Connole has now been promoted to technical manager for the housebuilder’s Yorkshire division, based in Wakefield. He graduated from the University of Leeds with a BEng in civil engineering and has 17 years’ new homes industry experience.

 

Graham Jones, Connells Group

Graham Jones of Connells GroupEstate agency and property services provider Connells Group has appointed Graham Jones as group human resources director. He has been working in HR for some 25 years, with Board-level posts at companies over sectors from automotive to real estate, and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development. The Group has a workforce of 7,000.

 

Joanne Casey, Mactaggart & Mickel

Joanne Casey of Mactaggart & MickelThe Homes England division of Mactaggart & Mickel has announced its first managing director. Joanne Casey, retaining her Board director position in Scotland and with 30 years’ industry experience, will be heading the company’s expansion plans from the Cheltenham HQ. She is a member of the Institute of Directors and Chair of Homes for Scotland’s Customer Relations Group.

 

Stephen Chalcraft, MLP

Stephen Chalcraft of MLPStephen Chalcraft has joined Altrincham-based law firm MLP to head up its real estate and built environment team. His experience in property law includes six years as a partner and head of real estate at Pannone and a year with Shakespeare Martineau as a partner. He will be working across MLP’s four North West offices.

 

Emma Colin, Linden Homes

Emma Colin of Linden HomesEmma Colin has been named as the new sales and marketing director for the south west region of Linden Homes. She returns to her Devon roots from her previous job at Ballymore in London, where she was head of international sales and marketing for four years. Based in Exeter, she will be responsible for sales of 400 homes a year across the Devon and Cornwall region.

 

Mark Norris, Rydon Construction

Mark Norris of Rydon ConstructionMark Norris has taken the role of construction director for all projects across London and the South East for Rydon Construction. He joins from Kier Group, where he was regional operations director and spent over 20 years at Wates, where he made operations director for the Southern Home Counties region. Norris is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building.

 

Julian Howarth, Persimmon Homes

Persimmon Homes Severn Valley has appointed Julian Howarth as construction director. Having spent more than 30 years in the industry, he will now oversee projects across Bristol, Weston-Super-Mare and Gloucestershire. With experience as a quantity surveyor and commercial manager, previous jobs include those at Port Marine and Tithegrove Ltd.

 

Simon Tyler, Davidsons Homes

Simon Tyler of Davidsons HomesDavidsons Homes has named Simon Tyler as head of sales for its new Southern division. The new division will be based in Northampton and cover sites in Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire and Warwickshire. 30-year-old Tyler joined the company in June 2018 and brings the benefits of 11 years in the industry to the housebuilder’s new venture.

 

Mark Cash, Genesis Homes

Mark Cash of Genesis HomesThe next step in a rapidly progressing career, Mark Cash has been promoted from senior site manager to head of construction less than six months after joining Penrith-based Genesis Homes. From working in construction since leaving school, he was quickly promoted from trainee to assistant site manager at his previous job at Story Homes.

 

Richard Woolmore, Wates Construction

Richard Woolmore of Wates ConstructionWith over 30 years of industry experience, Richard Woolmore has been named operations director by Wates Construction. He will look after the growing portfolio in the Midlands region, working alongside Mark Jones. Moving to Wates from Bouygues, he counts Galliford Try, Interserve and Kier among his previous employers.

 

Rachel Woodward, Mobile Mini

Rachel Woodward of Mobile MiniPortable accommodation and secure storage container provider Mobile Mini has appointed its first female HGV driver. Rachel Woodward, 24, delivers around the region from Mobile Mini’s East Midlands branch – one of 15 the company runs – and has undergone further driving and lifting training to broaden her skills.

 

Two appointments, Pod Newcastle

Launa Cowan and Matthew Turnbull of POD NewcastleLauna Cowan, a newly qualified architect, and Matthew Turnbull, a Part II architectural assistant, have joined Pod Newcastle. She graduated from Newcastle University and focuses on bespoke residential design and project management. He re-joins after completing his Part I qualification in practice with Pod.
