MIA Property Group has entered into a construction agreement with Midland Heart to deliver 137 affordable homes in Ladywood, Birmingham.

MIA Property Group agrees development agreement with Midland Heart for affordable scheme in Birmingham

Birmingham-based developer and investor, MIA Property Group, has entered into an agreement, subject to planning permission, with housing association, Midland Heart, to deliver a new 137-home affordable scheme in Ladywood, Birmingham.

The brownfield site, formerly home to the Ladywood Social Club and Ladywood Police Station, spans approximately 1.4 acres off Ladywood Middleway in Birmingham.

The planning application for the 137-home scheme is expected to be submitted within the next eight weeks. Subject to approval, MIA Property Group will then construct the 100% affordable development on behalf of Midland Heart.

The scheme contributes to Midland Heart’s wider housing delivery strategy, which will see the organisation deliver 2,250 new affordable homes across the region over the next five years. Global commercial real estate advisor, Avison Young, acted on behalf of MIA Property Group.

Eamonn Colman, land and investment director at MIA Property Group, said: “This is an important development for Birmingham, and the deliverance of 137 affordable units goes some way to helping the housing pressure in the city. We are delighted to be working with Midland Heart, a leading housing association here in Birmingham.”

“We have worked hard in partnership with Midland Heart to design well-planned and attractive homes, with residents at the centre of our approach. MIA are also very grateful for the support given by advisors, Architectural Design Consultancy, and to agents Avison Young.”

Joe Williams, director at Avison Young, added: “We’re pleased to have unlocked this deal for MIA Property Group and to be supporting the delivery of much-needed affordable homes in Birmingham.”

“This project represents a strategic and sustainable reuse of brownfield land, and through close collaboration with MIA and Midland Heart, we are enabling the delivery of 137 high-quality affordable homes that will bring long-term benefit to the local community.”

Joe Reeves, deputy chief executive at Midland Heart, added: “Securing this agreement is a positive step in our long-term plans to increase the supply of affordable homes across Birmingham. Ladywood is an area where demand is high, and this development will play an important role in meeting that need.”

“Most importantly, it will create well-designed homes that offer local people greater security, stability and the chance to build their lives in a place they can feel proud of. We’re pleased to be working with MIA Property Group to bring this forward.”
