L&Q has become the first G15 housing association to adopt the Shared Ownership Code, operated by the New Homes Quality Board (NHQB).
Its adoption brings one of the sector’s largest providers into the framework, significantly increasing the number of shared ownership homes covered by the Code.
The NHQB says that this significantly expands the reach of the Shared Ownership Code, bringing the total number of homes covered by adopting providers to over 22,000.
The Code is designed to drive greater consistency in standards across the shared ownership sector, which currently comprises approximately 250,000 homes.
L&Q is one of England’s largest providers of shared ownership homes. The organisation houses around 250,000 people, primarily across Greater London and Greater Manchester, and manages over 11,000 shared ownership homes. Alongside this, L&Q runs an active development programme that delivers new shared ownership homes in these regions.
By adopting the Code, L&Q has committed to a consistent set of requirements covering transparency, customer service and fair treatment across its shared ownership offer. The Code applies throughout the customer journey, from purchase to staircasing and resale, and is intended to provide customers with clearer information, more consistent service and greater confidence at key stages of their shared ownership experience.
The NHQB says that there are currently eight other providers progressing through the adoption process.
