L&G Affordable Homes has purchased land to develop 122 affordable homes at Wainfleet Road, Boston, marking a significant step toward addressing housing need in the region.
The project is being delivered in partnership with Langcroft, Seagate Homes and Boston Borough Council.
This development will provide 85 homes for social rent and 37 for shared ownership, with a mix of one, two and three bedroom houses and bungalows, in an area that currently has over 1,100 households on the waiting list.
L&G will also work in collaboration with Housing 21, which is delivering a further 36 social rent bungalows for retirement living under the overall planning permission for the site.
The project benefits from £12million grant funding from Homes England, ensuring these homes remain genuinely affordable while meeting modern standards.
Designed to achieve EPC B ratings, the homes incorporate air source heat pumps, PV panels and EV charging points, while the scheme includes plans to improve local biodiversity, reflecting L&G’s commitment to sustainability and long-term community well-being.
Anette Simpson, director of development and partnerships at L&G Affordable Homes, said: “We’re proud to be bringing forward this scheme in Boston. As with all of our projects, it’s about more than homes – it’s about creating opportunities for families to thrive. With support from Homes England, we’re delivering affordable, sustainable housing where it’s needed most.”
Councillor John Baxter, portfolio holder for housing at Boston Borough Council, said: “I’m delighted we are able to make this substantial investment into such an important project for Boston. It demonstrates our continued commitment to meeting the differing housing needs of our residents. By supporting this development, we are helping to deliver a range of high-quality affordable homes that will make a real difference to families, couples and individuals across the borough. This project gives people the opportunity to stay and put down roots in Boston with a safe, attractive place they can call home. It’s fantastic that we can continue building strong relationships with Registered Providers like L&G Affordable Homes and Housing 21 to bring long-term economic and community benefits to our area.”
