Georgia Brown gives us some insight into a working day as sales consultant for Redrow Homes.
9:15am: Upon arrival, my priority is to make sure the sales office and show homes are perfect before customers begin visiting. This ranges from loading up the television screens in the office, to unlocking the show home doors and checking each house. We want our customers to receive the best service, so I always make sure each of our five show homes at Regent Quay looks perfect, in order to leave a lasting impression.
10:00am: After I have made sure the show homes are looking their best, I return to the office to go through my emails and organise my priorities for the day. We have a few sales consultants working at Regent Quay so we will have a morning catch up to confirm upcoming appointments, emails and priorities.
11:00am: This is when the most exciting part of the job begins, as appointments with prospective buyers start to take place. Buyers looking to purchase a home at Regent Quay meet me in the sales office, and I take them round a show home, whilst answering any questions they may have on the development or buying process. This is one of the best parts of the day as I can truly demonstrate what Redrow has to offer. Having always lived in a new build, myself, I love that you are the first to live in the home, and it is great to share my appreciation with prospective buyers. It makes a difference when you really believe in the product.
1:00pm: After lunch, the afternoon typically brings in the most rewarding part of my job as previous customers often drop in to update me on how they are getting on. It is wonderful to see customers pleased with their homes. It is incredibly rewarding to know you have played a part in such an important process in their lives, particularly with first-time buyers who are putting down roots in the area and having families.
2:00pm: Several plots are coming up for completion, so we spend some time doing final checks on the property and organising things for completion day. We also speak with the customers to confirm their completion dates and give them an idea of what to expect on the day.
3:00pm: In the afternoon at least once a week we will have a meeting with the site team to check on build rates and plots that are becoming available.
3:30pm: A customer is coming in to discuss upgrades for the home they have reserved off-plan. Many of our customers use the ‘MyRedrow’ platform, where they can choose upgrades and remain up to date with the progress of their home online. But we are always happy to assist customers who would like to talk through their different options and encourage clients to come and browse the samples and show homes again to see if there are any other items they may like to have. We also keep our clients updated regularly on the progress of their new home and offer them the chance to discuss any questions they may have along the way.
4:00pm: I have an opportunity in the afternoon to catch up on emails that have come in during my appointments. Being a sales consultant always keeps me on my toes, and prospective buyers will drop in to have a look around throughout the day alongside the scheduled appointments. I’ll chat to the customers first to understand their requirements and budgets. Often it will be first-time buyers who are unsure of the process, so I answer any questions they might have and set out the possible options around using Help to Buy. I will also talk them through the benefits of using a recommended financial advisor and solicitor and offer them the chance to contact them. Afterwards, I will take them round the show homes so they can get a good feel for a Redrow home and high-quality finish.
5:00pm: As the day draws to a close, I refresh my emails for a final catch-up on the day, and log any visits I have had today, so I can follow up with the customers at a later point. The most important purchase you will ever make is your home, and it is gratifying to leave the office every day knowing that I have helped people with this.
