Connells Group signals strategic move with new affordable housing appointment

Connells Group has appointed a new director to drive forward its affordable housing offering.

The newly established director role will be filled by Roy Hind, a well-respected figure in the affordable housing sector with over 30 years of experience in both the public and private sectors. In 2020, Hind joined Countrywide to lead its Shared Ownership and Affordable Housing initiatives.

Hind will now leverage his expertise to bring together the full range of services offered by the Connells Group to benefit existing and new for-profit providers, local authorities, and institutional investors. This comprehensive proposition will encompass a wide range of affordable housing services across Sequence, Countrywide, Connells Residential, and all other affiliated companies within the group.

Roy Hind commented: “The demand for affordable housing is growing and as the provision landscape continues to evolve, we have all of the services needed to meet those needs and challenges.”

“Within the Connells Group and its various brands, we have a multitude of experts in land and property valuations, 106 agreements, planning and viability consultancy, financial services, land acquisition, conveyancing, sales and marketing, market research, lettings and management, EPC provision, asset management, commercial real estate services and much more.”

“Having worked in the affordable housing arena for a long time, I find it incredibly exciting to lead the charge in advancing our business in this sector.”

Roger Barrett, Connells Group land & new homes managing director commented on the appointment: “The housing system needs every tenure and affordable housing is a keystone for meeting the growing challenge of satisfying the demand for housing. Roy is extremely well-placed to take the Groups vision forward and this role allows us to bolster something we’ve already been doing well and take it to the next level.”
