Persimmon Homes South West has secured planning consent for the second phase of its Tawcroft development in Barnstaple.
As part of the consortium development being delivered by Persimmon and Elan Homes, the approval will enable a further 141 homes to be built, including 42 affordable properties that will be transferred to a local housing association for local people.
As part of the development, the developers will contribute towards a range of local infrastructure and community improvements, including £1.2million towards improvements of the A361 and £1.2million towards a new pedestrian and cycle bridge. The housebuilders will also make contributions towards local education provision, sport and recreation facilities and local bus services.
The proposals also include public open space, equipped play areas, an attenuation pond and the retention of existing hedgerows and trees.
All homes on the first phase of the development are now occupied, with construction on the second phase expected to commence this autumn.
