The developer leading the £4billion Victoria North regeneration project in Manchester, Far East Consortium (FEC), is set to launch Kingfisher – a new 322-home development in the city’s Red Bank neighbourhood.
The 30-storey, Hawkins\Brown-designed development joins the recently launched 189-home Falcon at Red Bank Riverside, with more than 2,000 homes set to be delivered in the neighbourhood.
The building has been designed to a high specification with energy-efficient homes and low-carbon technology, featuring air source heat pumps and photovoltaic solar panels. The new homes will feature floor-to-ceiling windows, framed by unique perforated panels designed to encourage natural ventilation and maximise daylight.
Beyond the living spaces, residents in Red Bank Riverside will have access to a separate shared amenity building, The Clubhouse, which will include a residents’ lounge, co-working space, fitness and wellness suite, and a rooftop bar and restaurant with an outdoor terrace.
Private podium gardens will be available for residents in the buildings flanked by Dantzic Street and Dulwich Street, which will offer generous public realm and commercial pop-up venues for dining, music and social activities.
Red Bank has a growing reputation as a hotspot for retail, food and drink, with it already home to a number of restaurants, bars and micro-producers. Kingfisher will also be just a short walk from FEC’s MeadowSide scheme, which provides a wealth of community events for local residents at Angel Meadow Park, and also sits close to City River Park, which will become Manchester city centre’s largest park at over 113 acres.
Kingfisher represents the latest development to come forward in Victoria North. Spanning seven new and existing neighbourhoods, including Red Bank, Victoria North will deliver 15,000 new homes over the next decade, making it the biggest urban regeneration project in Manchester’s history.
