North West housing company achieves net zero carbon goal

The Sovini Group has continued its net zero carbon commitment by achieving 100% recycling rates of their construction waste for 2021/2022.

The Merseyside-based property, facilities and construction company, which manages and maintains over 14,000 homes and operates an ambitious new build housing programme, surpassed industry standards of 80% recycle rates, through their innovative supply chain.

Sovini Waste Solutions, part of The Sovini Group, provides the group with a bespoke waste management solution which supports the businesses continuing commitment to going green.

The group, which also scooped the Innovation Award for Best Responsible Business at the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce Awards, is committed to a zero-to-landfill approach.

Its in-house property and facilities management company, Sovini Property Services has also diverted over 6,000 tonnes of waste from landfill during 2021/2022.

In line with the group’s net zero carbon commitment and the Future Buildings Standard (2021), all projects and initiatives take a ‘fabric first’ decarbonisation approach aimed at reducing energy consumption and providing sustainable homes for customers.

Operations manager at Sovini Waste Solutions, Tony Beckett, said: “We’re delighted to have supported The Sovini Group’s supply chain on their journey to 100% recyclable waste and we are proud of the service we deliver which supports our customers and communities in creating a more sustainable future.”
