Housebuilder offers children home design challenge

A Peterborough housebuilder is challenging youngsters to design their dream home as part of a campaign to support its staff and their families during lockdown.

The children of employees at Vistry East Midlands are being invited to take part in the ‘design a home from home’ competition, with the prize of a tablet to be awarded to the winner.

Vistry Group, which comprises Linden Homes, Bovis Homes and Vistry Partnerships, has devised the competition to assist workers facing the twin challenges of home-working and home-schooling during the pandemic.

It is part of a wide package of support being made available to Vistry’s office-based employees currently working from home due to the nationwide restrictions. This includes an online ‘work from home’ guidance and advice toolkit and a series of ‘it’s time to talk’ webinars discussing topics relating to mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.

Elouise Brazier, Vistry GroupThe competition will give children an opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Vistry senior sales consultant Elouise Brazier, who won a similar contest as a nine-year-old schoolgirl back in 2005. That success set her on the path to a career in the housebuilding industry, and she is currently looking after sales at Bovis Homes’ Hampton Water development off Aqua Drive.

Children must be aged between four and 13 to enter the competition and are being asked to create their own home design and floor plans, describe the style of the home and give the house a fun name to be in with a chance of winning the prize.

Weronika Maslak, sales manager for Hampton Water, said: “Recruiting talented people who are passionate about the industry such as Elouise is absolutely key to our success as a business. We care deeply about the welfare of our employees and we are committed to creating a positive working environment in which they can flourish.

“The lockdown has created new challenges for our staff members, which is why we wanted to provide this additional support while they are working from home. Our ‘design a home from home’ competition will provide stimulating learning for the children of our employees with the opportunity to be rewarded for their efforts, something we felt was important during this challenging period for so many of our staff.”
