Family-owned, Glasgow-based housebuilder, AS Homes Scotland, has submitted a planning application for 59 new affordable homes in Glasgow’s East End.
The plans have been submitted in partnership with Home Group, one of the UK’s largest providers of high-quality housing and integrated health and social care support.
Located in the Haghill neighbourhood, the proposed development will primarily deliver two-storey family homes, each with private rear gardens, providing much-needed housing for social rent.
The development has been designed with a strong focus on sustainability and accessibility, with proposed features including air source heat pumps, roof-mounted photovoltaic panels and electric vehicle charging points for every home, which will aim to support lower energy costs and more sustainable living. The plans also include the delivery of four wheelchair-compliant homes, helping to ensure the development meets the needs of a diverse range of residents.
AS Homes Scotland says that the planning submission comes at a critical time for the city. Glasgow has been in a declared housing emergency since late 2023, with more than 6,000 live housing applications and over 4,200 households currently living in temporary accommodation.
