Iain McPherson, Allison Homes

New CEO arriving at Allison Homes

Allison Homes has announced that when current CEO John Anderson moves up to a non-executive position in September 2026, he will be replaced by Iain McPherson, currently UK MD at Persimmon Homes.

Anderson has led Allison Homes since November 2021. The company’s recent announcements have shown a 30% increase in turnover in the last financial year to £211.9m, up from £163.2m. The company’s EBITDA increased to £15.5m, up from £10.9m, while gross profit increased to £30.5m (up from £24.3m in 2024). The increase in turnover reflects the group’s strategic focus on large-scale partnerships delivery, it says, working with registered housing providers to bring forward much-needed affordable homes at pace.

The group achieved a total of 808 completions during the year, a substantial increase from 626 in the previous year. Under Anderson’s stewardship, the company has also expanded from its single region focus and now has regional offices in Peterborough, Norwich, Tiverton, Castle Donington and Bristol. Allison currently has consent for a further 1,770 homes, with a further 14 sites for 1,460 homes in the planning pipeline.

McPherson will join after two years as UK MD at Persimmon Plc. Prior to that he was Sage Homes’ chief operating officer. His 30+ years of industry experience includes roles as CEO of Countryside Partnerships, managing director at Crest Nicholson and a current non-executive director at Town and Country Housing.

Allison Homes chair, Rob Roger said: “Under John’s leadership we have successfully transformed Allison into a highly regarded multi-region business, trusted by customers, partners and employees alike. Allison is recognised for customer satisfaction with HBF Five-Star status, the In-House Research Gold Award and an ‘Excellent’ Trustpilot rating. We recently secured a £165m financing deal with HSBC, NatWest and Homes England to accelerate its regional growth and boost the delivery of high-quality, affordable homes across our operating areas.

“John’s leadership style has created a strong internal culture, with consistently high engagement scores. We are very grateful for all he has done and delighted that he will remain as a non-executive director.”

“John was firmly of the view that for the good of the business and for the continued success it was essential that we ensure the board establish a robust succession plan. We’re delighted to have secured Iain’s services – he is just the type of leader to drive the next step in our growth strategy. It’s a great testament to what has already been achieved that someone of his calibre is making his future with us.”
