London Square and Clarion mark 10 years of affordable homes delivery at Twickenham Square development

Residential developer, London Square, and housing provider, Clarion, have celebrated a successful partnership which has delivered 570 affordable homes over the past decade.

Their latest partnership project is at the former Egerton Road campus of Richmond College, known as Twickenham Square, where 212 new homes are being delivered. Once completed, the development will provide 50% affordable housing, with a mix of London Affordable Rent and Shared Ownership homes to help meet local housing needs.

Twickenham Square features a range of one, two and three-bedroom apartments, all with balconies or terraces, designed around a central landscaped square and three and four-bedroom family houses with private gardens. The development will also create new landscaped public areas and pedestrian-friendly routes across the neighbourhood.

At a ceremony to celebrate progress at Twickenham Square, a silver birch tree was planted next to the London Square marketing suite on Egerton Road.

VIP guests were given a tour of the site to see the first homes under construction and discussed the positive impacts of partnership working to help promote housing delivery in the borough.

Duncan Burns, regional director of construction at Clarion Housing Group, said: “Twickenham Square is a brilliant example of what we can achieve through meaningful, long-term partnerships. At Clarion, we’re proud to be working with London Square to deliver high-quality affordable homes that reflect the needs and aspirations of local communities. This scheme will help ensure more people in Richmond have access to a well-designed, sustainable and secure place to call home.”

Jo McDonagh, managing director North at London Square, said: “Twickenham Square is an outstanding project and demonstrates how effective partnerships can be in providing affordable homes alongside homes for sale. We have enjoyed a long and successful partnership with Clarion – delivering nearly 570 affordable homes over the past decade.”

Twickenham Square is London Square’s fourth development in the London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames, with another current project at nearby Twickenham Green, featuring a collection of two, three and four-bedroom mews houses and apartments next to the River Crane, with waterfront access and landscaped outdoor spaces. Past projects in the borough are the multi-award-winning restoration and conversion of The Star and Garter Building on Richmond Hill and a collection of family homes and apartments in Teddington.

This year also marks London Square’s 15th anniversary, from its establishment in 2010 to its position as the capital’s fastest-growing developer, and Clarion Housing Group’s 125th anniversary, which has seen it rise to becoming the UK’s largest housing association.
