Churchill Retirement Living’s Kelly Hector is celebrating the latest step in her career with her promotion to group human resources director.
She joined Churchill a little over three years ago and in her previous role of head of HR, and has been instrumental in establishing the company’s People Strategy, working alongside the Churchill board in introducing valuable new benefits for colleagues.
She has also provided instrumental support as the company achieved a number of accolades, including fourth place in the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies to Work For in 2018 and the industry prestige of being named Housebuilder of the Year at the WhatHouse? Awards 2016.
Chairman and CEO, Spencer McCarthy, said: “I’d like to congratulate Kelly on her promotion to the new role of group HR director. At Churchill we know that our people are our greatest asset. Kelly has built a professional and dedicated HR and training team here whilst at the same time providing valuable support for the directors in day-to-day colleague-related activity. These achievements along with her drive and enthusiasm make this a well-deserved promotion.”
We interviewed Kelly for our Show House Jobs supplement in June and she gave us a ‘career view’ in February, where we asked her what she most enjoyed about working in HR.
She told us: “That’s easy… the people! Churchill Retirement Living really has a family feel – no-one is a stranger here, and it makes my job so much easier. I think it comes from the fact that we are privately owned, and our chairman and board of directors truly have an open-door policy. They are always approachable and keen to engage with staff when out on site as well as in the offices, so it makes everyone feel that they are part of something. I am also incredibly lucky to have a wonderful, dedicated and professional team of HR business partners, trainers and recruiters. Every day they never cease to amaze me and bring a smile to my face.”
