Housing industry careers news: This week’s Movers & Shakers

We take our weekly look at appointments and promotions across the housebuilding industry and its supply chain.

As the division seeks to significantly increase delivery in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, Barratt David Wilson North Thames has appointed a new managing director, Bill Beyzade.

He has been appointed following a six-year period as MD at Durkan Homes. Beyzade commenced his journey into housebuilding 25 years ago as a management trainee at Laing Homes working his way through various departments before specialising in pre-development focusing on land acquisition and planning. He has held senior roles in the North Home Counties area for over a decade as a land & planning director at both Cala Homes and Taylor Wimpey.

Beyzade said: “The North Thames division is one to watch over the next few years, as we will launch over a dozen new developments across Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire. My previous experience has seen me lead land and planning strategies with volume housebuilders to deliver many successful new communities in conjunction with key stakeholders in the North Home Counties.”

Mathew Tudor Owen, Anwyl Homes

Mathew Tudor Owen has stepped into the role of land director for Anwyl Homes’ Cheshire and North Wales division.

He has been with the company since 2017 and has just been promoted from senior land manager. With a Geography degree, he began his career in the housebuilding industry in 2012 on Redrow’s graduate scheme, later progressing to land manager before joining Anwyl.

Tudor Owen said: “I’m excited to take on a new challenge and continue to help drive Anwyl’s growth. We have ambitious plans for the business and a great team in place to deliver them. Anwyl’s family ethos and open culture really sets it apart.”

Mark Calvert, managing director for Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said: “Mathew’s promotion is very well deserved. His in-depth market knowledge and strong relationships make him a valuable asset to the business and I’m confident he’ll continue to drive our growth ambitions forward in his new role.”

Two appointments, Legacie

Mick Slater, Gavin Currie, John Morley, Legacie

Legacie has announced the appointment of two leaders to the board, further reinforcing its ambitious growth trajectory in the Build to Rent and social housing markets.

Mick Slater joins as chief financial officer. His wealth of experience in real estate includes having spent the past 11 years at residential and student accommodation developer and operator Vita Group, where he played a key role in scaling operations and securing funding for major development projects across the UK and internationally.

Slater’s appointment coincides with the promotion of Gavin Currie to chief operating officer.

Jamie Whitty-Lewis, Grosvenor Property UK

Jamie Whitty-Lewis has been appointed CEO of Grosvenor’s UK property business (GPUK), effective 1 December 2025, succeeding James Raynor.

Whitty-Lewis is currently GPUK’s executive director of finance and was due to become the business’s CFO from April 2026. As a result of his promotion to CEO, the latter role will now continue to be held by current GPUK CFO Debbie Lee.

Whitty-Lewis holds an honours degree from the London School of Economics, is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales. He has held roles in several different parts of Grosvenor, including as group reporting director, strategy director and head of finance for the London Estate.   

Whitty-Lewis commented: “I am honoured to take up the role of CEO of Grosvenor Property UK and to be given the opportunity to build on the commercial success we have achieved in recent years, the environmental leadership we have demonstrated and the strength of the partnerships we have forged.  It is a great privilege to lead such a talented team.”

Richard Cleary, Persimmon Homes

Persimmon Homes South Midlands has strengthened its team with the appointment of a new operations director,.

He brings with himover 20 years of industry experience, having held senior roles with both major national housebuilders and bespoke developers.

Commenting on his appointment, Cleary said: “This is an exciting new challenge, and I’m passionate about ensuring quality remains at the heart of everything we do.I look forward to supporting the region as we continue to deliver fantastic developments and create thriving, sustainable communities.”

Russell Griffin, managing director at Persimmon Homes South Midlands, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Richard to the South Midlands team as operations director. His skills and experience will be a real asset to the wider team. Providing homes and infrastructure of outstanding quality is integral to what we do at Persimmon, and having Richard as operations director will help to strengthen that.”

Stuart Morgan, Bellway

Bellway’s North East division has appointed Stuart Morgan as a new land director, based at its regional headquarters in Gateshead.

Newcastle born and bred, Morgan has spent more than two decades in the industry, with five years’ experience as a land director with Story Homes and the Robertson Group. He joined the construction industry in 2002 after graduating from Northumbria University with a degree in Estate Management. During his working career he also gained a degree in Planning and Development Surveying and then qualified as a chartered surveyor in 2010.

Morgan said: “I am very excited about working for Bellway and fulfilling my role to help the North East division raise its profile and expand its operation by securing new land in line with our ambitious growth aspirations.

“My team comprises senior land managers Miles Crossley and Greig Cockburn, assistant planner Katherine Temple and land graduate Joshua Meikle and is an exciting diverse mix of experience and ages, which will give a real breadth of perspective.”

Tim Evans, Avison Young

Tim Evans, Avison Young

Following Nick Hardy’s decision to focus on other areas of the business, Avidon Young has promoted Tim Evans to the position of head of planning for the company’s Midlands team.

He has been at Avison Young for 15 years and his new role spans the housing, higher education and logistics sectors. The current client list includes the likes of Loughborough University, Jelson Homes, Barratt David Wilson and Homes England. Currently, Evans is overseeing the delivery of around 15,000 new homes across the Midlands.

Evans said: “I’m incredibly excited to step into this leadership role after more than 15 years with the business. It’s a real privilege to lead such a well-established and high-performing team, and I’m grateful to my predecessor Nick for the strong foundations he’s left behind.”

Craig Alsbury, principal and national head of planning at Avison Young added of Evans: “He has exactly the right experience, skills and drive needed to take the team forward, and I am confident that he will take them to new heights.”

Moira Sibbald, Places for People

Places for People (PfP) Scotland has announce the appointment of Moira Sibbald as the new chair of its board, taking over from Pamela Scott.

Sibbald joined the PfP Scotland board in February 2021 and brings a wealth of experience across multiple sectors to her new leadership role. She will support and help drive the organisation’s commitment to providing high-quality affordable homes.

Sibbald is a solicitor with a distinguished career, having served as group general counsel and company secretary at Cala Group, where she was also a member of the executive board. Her background spans private legal practice and executive leadership within a building society. Moira’s expertise extends beyond housing, including non-executive roles in the arts and financial services sectors, where she has chaired divisions and key committees such as Audit, Remuneration, and Governance. 

She said: “I am deeply passionate about the organisation’s mission to provide sustainable, affordable homes and to build thriving communities.”
