Dandara and Moat launch affordable homes scheme in Kent

Dandara has exchanged contracts with housing association, Moat, to deliver 54 affordable homes in Newington, Swale, strengthening an established partnership focused on delivering much-needed housing across the South East.

Led by Dandara’s partnerships division, the scheme is the latest project to be delivered through the ongoing relationship between the two organisations.

The scheme will see the affordable homes delivered through Section 106, increasing the number of affordable homes available locally and helping to meet sustained demand in the region.

Russell Turner, partnerships director at Dandara, said: “Delivering social housing has never been more important with a huge shortfall of homes being built every year. Currently, only around 10,000 homes are under construction annually for social housing – a long way from the 90,000 a year charities like Shelter say are needed.”

“In the South East, affordability remains one of the biggest barriers to people putting down roots. Developments like Newington are about creating well-designed homes that offer long-term value, not short-term fixes.”

“Delivering the right affordable housing for local people is vitally important and we have worked closely with Moat throughout the process, not just on this site but across a number of schemes. That consistency really matters. It means we understand each other’s priorities, we can move quickly and we can focus on getting more homes delivered where they’re needed most.”

“By combining our delivery expertise with their experience in managing affordable homes, we can ensure these properties become sustainable assets for the community for years to come.”

Russell Drury, head of land, new business and partnerships at Moat, said: “We know there’s great need across the South East for homes that are safe, secure, and low-cost. We’re committed to building homes where they’re needed most and where they make the biggest difference, and this latest development builds upon our growing community of homes in Swale.”

“Working with Dandara across multiple developments has allowed us to build a relationship based on trust and shared ambition, so we can ensure every customer moves into a home of the highest quality.”

Dandara says that the Newington scheme reflects its wider partnerships strategy, which focuses on long-term collaboration with housing associations and public sector bodies to increase delivery and respond flexibly to funding opportunities.
