LGA: Housebuilders must be responsible for broadband connection

Housing developers must adopt council proposals for a new Fibre to the Premises Kitemark to reassure homebuyers before completion that their new home will have a broadband connection fit for the 21st century, the LGA says. The first digital mortgage deed has been entered into the Land Register. Part of the ‘Sign your mortgage deed’ service, HM Land Registry is building for a future without the need for a witness to watch as the homeowner applies an ink signature to a paper mortgage deed, saving time and providing a more secure service to homeowners, lenders and conveyancers. The registration forms part of HM Land Registry’s plans to transform the conveyancing market through quicker and simpler digital services and improved use of technology, making transactions instantaneous where possible and simplifying the home buying process. Miller Homes launches first online reservation tool

Over 100 homebuyers have reserved their home on the Miller Homes website following the launch of a new online reservation tool last Autumn. Miller Homes is the first major UK housebuilder to offer such a service, enabling house hunters to reserve their chosen property and pay a reservation fee to secure it at a time and place that suits them.  Since its launch in September 2017, online reservations now account for 6% of private net sales, demonstrating demand for the innovative new system.
