Capital&Centric has secured planning approval for the regeneration of the former Stones Brewery in Sheffield city centre.
The developer’s Cannon Brewery scheme will see the long-vacant landmark transformed into a new mixed-use neighbourhood in the Neepsend area of the city, combining new homes, workspaces, commercial space and green community space.
The first phase will deliver 240 design-led apartments, with the wider masterplan creating around 500 new homes. Alongside them will be around 15,000 sq ft of commercial space for independent businesses, makers and creatives, with the aim of helping grow Neepsend’s thriving community while keeping its industrial character front and centre.
Residents will have access to Capital&Centric’s amenities, including a gym, co-working spaces, residents’ lounge and mini cinema.
Capital&Centric says that its plans will put people first, with a new urban park, generous public spaces and new pedestrian routes opening up a site that’s been closed off for more than two decades. The development will aim to celebrate Cannon Brewery’s heritage while providing a new lease of life for the recognisable Sheffield landmark.
