Churchill Living makes seven new land acquisitions with a combined GDV of £125million

Later-living specialist, Churchill Living, has exchanged contracts on seven new sites in recent weeks, with an approximate total GDV of £125million. The new sites will support the company’s growth plans as it looks to rejuvenate local high streets, create new jobs, free up local housing chains and bring many more benefits to towns across the country.

The new sites are in Cirencester, Kingswinford, Meanwood in Leeds, Rustington in West Sussex, Salisbury, Seaford in East Sussex and Welling in Kent.

In each of these locations, the company plans to deliver attractive, high-quality later-living accommodation in a blend of apartments and cottages for local over 60s who want to carry on living independently with the added safety and support that comes with being in a later-living community.

Research continues to highlight the urgent need for more specialist housing for older people, with one in four over 60s saying they would like to downsize but being held back by a lack of choice. Providing more suitable options for downsizing not only offers positives for the buyer but is also seen as a way to tackle the housing shortage by releasing larger properties back onto the market.

Following the recent launch of its new identity as Churchill Living, the company’s regional land-buying teams are keen to explore further opportunities to invest in new town centre sites across the country, where it can regenerate previously developed land close to local shops and amenities. Locations such as empty retail units, commercial units, office blocks, car showrooms, pubs and car parks can make the ideal targets to be transformed into retirement communities.

Churchill’s chairman & CEO, Spencer J McCarthy, said: “To meet the demand for quality housing for the over 60s, we’re looking for more of the right land in the right locations to add new award-winning later-living developments to those we’re already building and selling across the country.”

“Our developments create jobs for local tradespeople and suppliers, and bring regular shoppers to spend their money on their local high streets and boost local businesses. We offer generous commission for a successful site introduction, so I would encourage landowners or their agents to contact us directly with any opportunities.”

Churchill currently has close to 200 developments across the country, all located on brownfield sites of between 0.4 and 2.5 acres, within easy walking distance of town centre shops and amenities and good public transport links.
