Roca Group UK has announced that Steven McGill has been promoted to national developer manager, covering the whole of the UK.
Steven has been with Roca since 2015 and is now stepping into the shoes of Sian Lane, who has secured and fostered strong trading relationships with the UK’s national housebuilders over the last 20 years. Maintaining and strengthening those relationships with developers is a key part of Steven’s responsibilities going forward. Steven will continue to benefit from Sian’s experience, as she has moved into a supporting role for the wider developer sales team.
Liam Buxton, head of residential (UK), said: “The new build landscape is hugely challenging at the moment, with Future Homes Standard looming, nutrient neutrality and water company demands.”
“This is without mentioning the impact the end of the government’s Help to Buy scheme and rising interest rates has had on first-time buyers. Thankfully, our vast portfolio of products across the Roca and LAUFEN brands is perfectly aligned to help housebuilders meet these demands without comprising on style. And after eight years in the Roca Group, Steven has all the knowledge and experience to assist our housebuilding partners in navigating their way through these challenges.”
“The national developer manager role is a demanding yet exciting one and we’re looking forward to supporting Steven in it, as well as seeing how he makes the role his own. I wish him the very best of luck.”
Steven joined Roca in 2015 as an Area Sales Manager covering the retail and merchant sectors in Scotland, arriving with 12 years of experience working in previous roles within the bathroom industry. In 2019, he then took on the role of Residential and Project Specification Manager to work with developers in Scotland and the Northeast of England, as well as with designers and architects in the hospitality sector.
When asked about the biggest challenges in the new role, Steven said: “The volatility in many sectors of the business we’ve seen over the last few years will obviously present challenges. I need to ensure we continue to work closely with our developer partners and provide the best solutions to help them achieve their targets and meet requirements. This is on top of the challenges involved in replacing someone as highly respected as Sian Lane!”
“I’m looking forward to having the opportunity to continue my career development within the Roca Group, and to work closely with my colleagues in the specification team. In addition, I’m excited to maintain and develop my existing developers in Scotland and the Northeast, as well as extend those relationships to developers nationwide to expand my network and seek out further opportunities in the sector.”
