Charles Egbu, Chartered Institute of Building
The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has a new president, its 116th. On 27 June, University of East London pro vice-chancellor Charles Egbu took over the one-year role. He has been dean of the School of The Built Environment & Architecture at London Southbank University, where he was also chair in project management and strategic management in construction.
Two appointments, Churchill Retirement Living
Churchill has announced two senior appointments to its planning team. Stuart Goodwill is now managing director, bringing with him years of experience and moving from a role as head of planning for a national housebuilder. Matt Shellum joins from another retirement property specialist to take up the position of head of appeals and affordable housing.
Two appointments, Apex Airspace
Rapidly expanding Apex Airspace has appointed Andrew Powell as finance director and Jonathan Smart as the head of new business. Powell arrives after 12 years with Morgan Sindall, including six years on its Board. Smart’s a decade in the property sector includes time with Taylor Wimpey, Crest Nicholson and as head of land at Berkeley Homes (North East London/Capital).
Katie Dean, Urban Splash
Katie Dean has taken up the role of land director at regeneration specialist Urban Splash. After positions at PJ Livesey, Ask and GL Hearn, she spent seven years at Hallam Land Management, where she served as North West regional manager overseeing land acquisition and gaining consents for large-scale residential schemes.
Alex Szarawarski, Bellway
Huntingdon-based housebuilder Bellway Eastern Counties has welcomed Alex Szarawarski as its new senior technical manager. He has years working for housebuilding companies in the east of England. “The best thing about my role is that I get to be involved in forming a new community and watch as a new neighbourhood is formed,” he said.
