RTPI Scotland states shared planning reform priorities

RTPI Scotland has established five common priorities for Scottish Planning Reform with the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

This is to ensure the Planning Bill recognises the built environment sector’s vital role and potential to drive growth and sustainable development.

A report detailing these priorities has been delivered to the Minister for Local Government and Housing, relevant parliamentarians, parliamentary committees and stakeholders, ahead of the Planning Consultation Paper due to be published imminently.

The five shared priorities are:

• Getting supporting infrastructure delivered;
• Resourcing the system;
• Taking a plan-led approach;
• Break down silos;
• Make sure that plans are delivered.

RTPI Scotland has written to, among others, Keith Brown, Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Jobs and Fair Work; Andy Wightman, MSP; John Scott MSP; Clerks to the Local Government and Communities Committee and Homes for Scotland.
