MAIN IMAGE: Warren Thompson, promoted to regional chief executive at Redrow Homes
Previously managing director of Redrow’s Yorkshire housing division, Thompson will now oversee three housing divisions covering Yorkshire, Lancashire and the rest of the North West and North Wales.
His promotion comes two years after he joined Redrow, with a pledge to grow the Yorkshire division’s output to circa 500 units, which it is set to achieve in the current financial year.
He also affirmed Redrow’s commitment to growth in Yorkshire’s ‘golden triangle’ between York, Harrogate and North Leeds. During the last two years, Thompson has presided over the launch of new developments in York, Harrogate and Sherburn-in-Elmet, as well as ongoing success in Newton Kyme and Horsforth.
“Having achieved what I set out to do in Yorkshire with the support of great staff and a strong management team, I now feel I have reached a point in my career where I am ready for this great opportunity and fresh challenge of ensuring that Redrow maintains its position of strength and achieves further growth across the North of England and North Wales,” said Thompson. “This region is very much Redrow’s ‘heartland’, the company having been founded here more than 40 years ago, so I consider it a privilege to be given the post of regional chief executive.”
More than 20 years in the construction and housing industry, Thompson joined Redrow in 2014 from Avant Homes (previously Gladedale), where he spent almost nine years and was managing director of three different businesses.
John Tutte, Group chief executive for Redrow, said, “Warren’s promotion is well deserved and is one of a number of senior management changes designed to ensure we can meet the demands of an expanding business. In the two years he has been with us, Warren has impressed with his management style and the results achieved, he will be an asset to our Executive Board.”
Thompson’s promotion leaves a vacant seat for managing director at Wakefield-based Redrow Homes (Yorkshire), which will be filled by the transfer of recent recruit James Poynor from Redrow’s Midlands housing business.
Poynor joined Redrow from Countrywide plc, where he was group residential development director overseeing its planning, land, consultancy, new homes sales and investment arms in the new homes sector both in the UK and Hong Kong.
His arrival at Redrow signalled a return to the housebuilding sector, having previously spent almost three years as a sales director for Barratt.
