Leading figures from the UK housing sector attended a roundtable discussion hosted by NHBC as part of the Government’s engagement programme ahead of forthcoming EU negotiations.
The Rt Hon David Jones MP, Minister of State at Department for Exiting the EU and Gavin Barwell MP, Minister of State for Housing and Planning at DCLG were joined by many of the UK’s key house builders and a range of other organisations, including RICS, RIBA and CML.
The main areas of discussion included regulation, economic impact, immigration and skills as well as how the wider supply chain can be supported by Government post-Brexit.
After the event, DExEU Minister David Jones and DCLG Housing Minister Gavin Barwell issued a joint statement saying: “The house building industry is crucial in delivering on our commitment to increase the supply of homes for sale and rent across the UK and building a country that works for everyone.
“That is why we are meeting with representatives across the sector to further understand their position as part of our planning for smooth and orderly negotiations over our exit from the European Union.
“Ultimately we want to secure the best possible deal for the UK, one that champions a growing housing industry and embraces new opportunities on a global scale.”
