Meet ‘Sam’, the world’s first robot estate agent

A robot named Sam has been launched by tech savvy German estate agency, Kampmeyer, to show customers around houses remotely.

With the ongoing global Covid-19 pandemic many property agents are reporting a drop in viewing figures as people stay at home.  So, this German real estate broker has used technology to find a creative solution in the form of Sam, the real estate robot.

Although the property industry adapted to offer immerse online viewings, the rapidly changing customer demanded a more personal approach.  And with technology expectations at an all-time high, Kampmeyer saw a gap in the market.

KAMPMEYER Immobilien, a German brokerage based in Cologne, Bonn and Dusseldorf were aware of the consumer demands for tech advances in the industry, especially during Covid times.  Whilst they had introduced Sam pre-Covid times, demand for this cute robot has now rocketed.  They are proud to be the first broker in Germany and the European Union to introduce this fully automatic robot to conducts virtual property viewings.

Sam is 1.70 meters tall and moves with wheel rather than legs. His head is a high-resolution rotating camera, microphone, and sensors.  He is friendly and wants to help customers find their perfect new home!

From the comfort of their own homes, potential buyers can ask Sam to move so they can see every detail of the property.  Also, Sam enables the customer to communicate with the (human) agent via remote control in case they have any questions while they’re viewing the property.

CEO of KAMPMEYER Immobilien, Roland Kampmeyer said: “Sam is turning open houses into dynamic, fun digital experiences. We’ve had great feedback so far. Unlike other virtual viewings, Sam offers those looking to move house maximum freedom and independence to view the property at their own pace. The fact Sam can answer all their questions through direct access to our office is also a big plus for potential buyers.’’

One of the main distinctions is that Sam’s digital interaction and is similar to a ‘’game’’. The customer, through their smartphone, can control and ask Sam to go to different rooms in the house so they can see them in detail.

Chris Dietz, Executive Vice President of LeadingRE said: ‘’The introduction Sam the robot is a tech savvy move for the real estate industry.  Evolving customer behaviour is influenced by technology.  Now more than ever, and especially due to Covid-19, it is essential to offer an up-the-minute seamless experience to guide them with what is likely the biggest purchase of their lives.’’
