A2Dominion, the lead developer at NW Bicester, has named housebuilder Hill as the main contractor to deliver the second phase of its Elmsbrook development.
Hill, who were recently named as the WhatHouse? Housebuilder of the Year 2015, will work with A2Dominion to build the second 73 of the 393 highly efficient, true zero carbon homes which are planned at Elmsbrook.
The phase will provide a mix of homes, from two-bedroom starter properties to five-bedroom executive family homes for private sale, which will be marketed under A2Dominion’s FABRICA brand. The site will also offer a number of affordable homes, including disabled access bungalows that will be managed by A2Dominion.
Project Director, Steve Hornblow, said, “As the winner of a number of industry leading housing awards in 2015, Hill shares our commitment to quality results. Importantly for this project, they are dedicated to developing sustainable homes that meet set environmental targets, create opportunities for local suppliers and sub-contractors and deliver local labour opportunities.
“Elmsbrook is a pioneering project designed to make it easy, attractive and affordable for people of all ages to live healthy, sustainable lifestyles in high quality homes without compromising the needs of future generations. Residents at Elmsbrook will not only have highly efficient, well-designed homes, but also all the benefits of thoughtfully conceived green spaces and alternative travel choices, and all the necessary infrastructure to cultivate a thriving community.”
Kieran Larkin, Deputy Chief Executive at Hill, added, “We are looking forward to working with A2Dominion on the second phase of the UK’s first eco town, which will create a sustainable new community for Bicester and raise the bar for the future of housebuilding in the UK. Oxfordshire is suffering from a major housing shortage, and the work underway at Elmsbrook at NW Bicester will help to provide the much needed family homes that the region needs.
“Hill has developed special expertise in sustainability from projects such as our Virido Concept House, which piloted and tested a range of sustainable technologies. Elmsbrook is an exciting and challenging project, and we have already established an expert team at the site to deliver its ambitious vision in the months ahead.”
