The Greater London Authority has appointed a new Assistant Director of Planning – Juliemma McLoughlin – to replace Stewart Murray, who left last year. She will start in the role in April.
Juliemma McLoughlin has been appointed Assistant Director of Planning at the Greater London Authority, a crucial role in leading City Hall’s planning team and delivering the Mayor’s manifesto pledges on planning and development across the capital.
McLoughlin is currently Director of Planning and Growth at the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, a role she has held for the last 10 years. She was responsible for work on a number of high-profile projects including Earl’s Court, White City, Westfield and Chelsea FC’s stadium redevelopment.
Prior to joining Hammersmith and Fulham, she held senior planning posts in London and Sydney, including the London Borough of Newham and the Sydney Ports Corporation (part of the New South Wales state government).
In her new role, Ms McLoughlin will lead on the development of the new London Plan, which will provide comprehensive planning guidance for developments across the capital, the first draft of which is due later this year.
She will lead the GLA’s planning department, which examines applications for a wide range of residential and commercial developments.
She will work closely with the Homes for Londoners team to support the Mayor’s efforts to significantly increase the number of genuinely affordable homes in London.
Deputy Mayor for Planning, Regeneration and Skills, Jules Pipe, said, “I am delighted that Juliemma is joining City Hall as she brings an unrivalled depth of knowledge and expertise to the role.
“Juliemma stood out from a strong field and I am looking forward to working with her to deliver high quality design and good growth in London, which must include building more new and genuinely affordable homes for Londoners.”
Juliemma McLoughlin said, “I am delighted to be joining City Hall’s planning team at this hugely important and exciting time as the city continues to develop. I look forward to helping shape development across London and helping the Mayor deliver more of the genuinely affordable homes the capital needs.”
