Glenn Copper, just named sales director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Thames, is an excellent exemplar of how talent, dedication and a great mentor can lead to a steep career path, having moved from trainee sales advisor to his new role in just 10 years.
The 33-year-old, now living in Iver, Buckinghamshire, started his career at the national housebuilder in 2007, impressed with the company having bought a house from them, moving up to sales advisor, then senior sales manager and now regional sales director, responsible for sales teams in the Barratt Developments offices and on new homes sites in the area he covers.
Glenn says: “I enjoyed the process of buying a home from Barratt Homes which inspired me to want to work for them and it is fantastic to be on the other side of the fence to help people move into their homes and see the happiness which we have helped to create.”
“Moving up through each role has given me a better insight into what is required at each level which in turn helps me manage my team better. Managing the sales team is my favourite element of this role, we have a good working relationship together and they’re such a strong team.”
“I have enjoyed working with the team at Barratt. Our previous sales director Karly Williams mentored me over the last few years and this support has been invaluable and helped me to progress with my career.”
Ian Sadler, managing director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Thames, sees Glenn’s story as one that underlines the Barratt and David Wilson Homes approach to building careers in-house: “I am delighted that Glenn has now been promoted to sales director after starting as a trainee sales adviser. At Barratt and David Wilson Homes we are keen to see people progress within the company and promote from within the business and Glenn is a testament to this. We look forward to seeing what he will go on to achieve in the business.”
