Draks provides carbon negative wardrobes for Berkeley development

Draks is working with Berkeley to provide carbon neutral wardrobes in its new Horlicks Quarter development in central Slough.

A choice of individually-designed apartments will be provided, including some within the Horlicks Factory building which will be refurbished to incorporate a rooftop garden. Green open spaces with a variety of water features will be set around the restored clock tower and the 47-metre factory chimney.

Ryan Matthews, Regional Manager at EGGER UK, said: “Well known for their high-quality wardrobes and craftsmanship, we are delighted that Draks chose our carbon negative, melamine-faced chipboard for the Horlicks Quarter. U780 Monument Grey, one of the many EGGER decors that Draks uses, is new to our collection and works particularly well with the trend for black accessories that we are seeing at the moment.”

With a nod to the relaxing comfort of a hot cup of Horlicks at bedtime, the designers selected Drak’s Heyford flat panel slab wardrobe doors in calming colours for the master bedrooms.

Offering a wide range of colours, finishes and handles, Heyford is designed to be a clever storage solution in both contemporary and traditional schemes and offers the designer a myriad of choices.

Kelly McNiven, Internal Specification Designer for Berkeley Homes (Oxford and Chiltern), said: “Draks’ wardrobes feature in all of the main bedrooms within the 216 apartments with scope for the same within the future blocks on the development.  Our design features three hinged doors with a stylish matt black handle and we offer our purchasers a choice of door colour between Egger MFC Monument Grey and Egger White Grey. Internally, the wardrobes feature a single shelf in a colour to match the doors with a matt black hanging rail.

“We have used Draks for a number of years and have specified them on the vast majority of our projects over the years whether that be modern apartments or traditional houses.

We have a great relationship with the team at Draks and their site performance historically has been excellent.”
