CIH approved as a main apprenticeship provider

CIH has been approved as a main apprenticeship training provider for the new housing and property management apprenticeships.

CIH was informed this week that its Housing Academy has been approved by the Skills Funding Agency – which approves apprenticeship training providers as part of the government’s new approach.

The new housing and property management apprenticeships represent a significant change from the current apprenticeships in terms of content and delivery.

They require housing organisations to appoint a lead training provider to build a programme of training for the apprentice and an end-point assessor to ensure the apprentice can demonstrate the skills and behaviours they need to do the job they have been working towards.

Vanessa Howell, head of professional standards at CIH, said: “We are delighted that our Housing Academy is registered as an apprenticeship training provider to deliver the new standards.

“As the home of professional standards we are passionate about bringing new people into housing, equipping young professionals and developing staff with the skills they need to meet the many challenges which lie ahead.

“CIH is also an approved end point assessor which means we can now offer both the training and assessment independently from each other to ensure quality.

“This is a crucial time for housing and the new apprenticeships represent a key opportunity for us to bring through tomorrow’s housing professionals. We are delighted that we can now play a leading role in this and we look forward to working with organisations to make it happen.”
