Career shift into new homes industry brings satisfaction to Laura

A dramatic career move from catering to selling new homes has made Laura Baylis a very happy woman.

Chelmsford-born Laura had been working in the catering industry as a very successful manager and team leader for five years before taking a big step into another career, working on site at a Derbyshire development with Harron Homes.

“While working for a national chain, I was named the second-highest rated manager in the UK for sales satisfaction,” Laura says, “so it’s fair to say that I’m a very competitive person! It’s true that there’s always been a sales element to my previous job, but I viewed making a move to Harron as an opportunity to be involved in something really meaningful. Helping people to find their perfect home is really important, and it’s something that I thrive on.”

Delighted with the welcome she’s had at the company and its Thornberries site, she adds: “Settling into my new role has been made so much easier by how fantastic my colleagues have been in supporting me. I’ve been through Harron’s intensive training process, which has proved invaluable and has already helped me sell my first home!”

Alison Taylor-Shaw, the sales director designate at Harron Homes North Midlands, says of Laura’s arrival: “We are thrilled to have someone as capable and driven as Laura on the team. She has hit the ground running and I have every confidence that she will continue to shine in her role. Being a sales executive means making people feel welcome and guiding property-seekers through the homebuying experience, and Laura has proven time and again that she thrives within a sales environment.”
